October class

One of the October classes was held last Sunday. It was still raining a bit because of typhoon, but we could do some Halloween activities outside in the afternoon. It was a fun day!

先週の日曜日は英語クラスの日。台風の影響が心配されましたが、お天気は小雨。無事にクラスを開くことができました。


In the morning, we harvested turnip! Some of the children who joined the class last month planted the seeds. They've grown very fast! As we walked around the farm, children picked up chestnuts, Kaki fruits, and collected leaves.

朝は畑を歩き、野菜を収穫しました。先月種をまいた株がもう食べれるくらいになっていました！


In the classroom, older children examined the leaves with magnifier. We talked about why leaves are important to the tree. They all wanted to know the names of each leaf shape, so they spent long time with leaf chart.

教室についてから、大きな子達と葉っぱについて話をしました。どうして葉っぱって木にとって大事なんだろう？いろいろな形があるね。何種類ぐらいあるのかな？とみんな自分のとってきた葉っぱに興味深々の様子。葉っぱの表で形を見比べて、形の名前を探し当てたり、虫眼鏡で葉っぱの観察をしました。


Small children started working in the other classroom. It was great to see them concentrating a lot!

小さな子達は、別のお部屋でそれぞれのお仕事に取り組んでいました。


Soon they joined in the room where their big sister and brother are working.

お兄ちゃん、お姉ちゃんのいる部屋に来ても、それぞれ自分のやりたいことに大忙しの様子。子供達が集中している時の顔は、真剣そのもの。いつもはっとさせられます。


2 hours went very quickly!

午前中の2時間はあっという間に過ぎました。


Sometimes the classroom was so quiet!

教室がシーンとしている時間もしばしば。


We cooked Sushi together for lunch.

今回のランチはお寿司とお味噌汁。酢飯作りや具の準備をみんなでしました。


They prepared the table and waited for the parents to come. They're amazing!

テーブルの準備も全て子供達にお任せ。様子を見に行ったら、もう座ってランチが始まるのを待っている子供達の姿がありました！


Before and after lunch, they got very nice Halloween story time!

ランチの前後には、ハロウィーンの絵本時間。


The class ended with several Halloween games and crafts. I enjoyed the class a lot and hope everybody else did, too. I appreciated the great help from the parents to run everything smoothly. Thank you very much!

Unfortunately the class with Japanese children was cancelled this month because of typhoon. Since I meet these children only once a month, I miss them a lot. I'm looking forward to the next class!

午後は、農場でハロウィーンのゲームと工作、トリックオアトリートをして、クラスは終了。ゲームの運営を保護者の方にもお手伝いしてもらい、本当に感謝しています。ありがとうございました！

前日に予定されていた10月の日本語クラスは台風で中止に…。とても残念でした。もう１つの英語クラスについては友人のジョーさんの書いてくれた記事がこちらから見られます。
