The report about our new school

It's been a while that I reported about our new school's progression. This winter, ENORMOUS amount of work has been done by Christian and Peatrek.

Look! Inside the classroom. Now, the floor is ready and we're in the painting phase. To reach this painting stage, first the walls had to be insulated, then clayed (twice!). Whoever tried the claying before would understand how much work to clay the whole house. Thousands kilo of sand is used, and imagine just bringing up the sand to the second floor without machine's help. Full respect to Christian.I'm very proud that I clayed two wall of the classroom!

Here is the kitchen corner. The working surfaces for children and adults are ready. Now they are waiting to be oiled.

Here we have the secret stairs to the attic. When you climb up, there is a ...

storage space for materials! The shelves are made by Christian, and we're coloring them in bright yellow.

The bathroom is getting tiled. We chose the creamy white tiles and some shells for decoration.

What's special about the bathroom is that it has Gonzo's footprints on the floor;-) How nice that everyone of our family can say "Oh, this is the wall I clayed" or "I painted this corner." Even Gonzo can say "Hey, look at my footprints!"

In following weeks, the door for the classroom and the front door will arrive and kitchen and bathroom may be ready. We're ordering some materials and getting furnitures for the class. Very exciting! And, of course, we're still planning to make tree houses in the garden. I'm already looking forward to coming back from Japan! Good bye Munich, for a while!!

Handwork

It's been snowing and snowing and snowing here. Though I like snow, and I love being in Munich, I feel my body struggling to adapt to the weather in Munich. After all, I'm a "Proisen" coming far away from Bavaria (People in Bavarian empire call the outsiders by that name)and it's my first time in my life living in the place where temperature goes minus and snow&ice cover the ground for months. I've finally! realized that I need to keep some energy for my body to fight against this cold weather, and need to slow down the activities especially during winter time to stay healthy.

My happy solution for slowing down my life is starting hand working!! Why didn't I come up to this idea earlier!?
Definitely there are many Montessori materials Iris and I need to make for our new school, which are very exciting, plus my big goals this winter are

1) Mastering the different ways of stitching so that I can decorate many of my belongings. I have to confess that I'm such a beginner of sewing. I think it's a wonderful idea to start from stitching. If I'm very successful with this, I'll try finger-knitting as well.

Those pictures are my image. I hope I can do something like this;-)

2)Making a kicking-ball to my pregnant friends.

"Kicking ball" is a Montessori material for a baby. He/she can first look at (visually very attractive), can practice reaching with arms or legs (it has a bell to motivate the action). It can be hanged from the ceiling with elastic band so that the child can grab it. When the child becomes a bit older, as the name shows, he can kick it or my friend's 1 year old daughter enjoyed so much dragging the ball on the floor. It's one of the long term used materials. When the baby is awake and no adult is around, he can try the ball and enjoy the time by himself.

As you see from the fabric, this ball's origin is in Japan. Traditionally, we used this (in much smaller size) as a mobile to decorate the house in Japan.

3) To make the kicking ball, collecting the KIMONO fabric. This will be one of my mission in Japan trip which is coming in a week. I've found interesting HP of artists who work with KIMONO fabric. Have a look! KIMONO pattern is so creative and a big inspiration for hand working.

SAKURA (cherry blossom) I made with ORIGAMI. This I keep on my working desk till the spring comes here in Bavaria. According to Iris "Only the strong ones survive here." ... I hope I'm strong enough to pass this harsh winter;-)

Apple tree

Jakob has been collecting the apple seeds whenever he eats an apple, and one of the seeds he planted in a pot sprouted!
I've just finished re-reading one book ("You are therefore I am; A declaration of Dependence" by Satish Kumar), and found the interesting passage comparing the growth of apple tree to the one of human life.

For a seed to grow to be a tree, first it needs to be sown in a dark soil. Only by connecting with earth, the hidden energy of a seed gets released and new sprout comes up. To connect with earth, a seed needs to stop being a seed any more. The shell of the seed dissolves in the ground, and then seed and soil can become together.
Human being is compared to a seed in the book. We have our own shell to be a individual person, but the time we grow to become a tree will(should) come. At that moment, we don't need the shell (our ego) anymore. It has to be gone so that we can connect with something else and grow further.

"A seed comes from a tree, and it becomes a tree. Being a seed is just a temporary form in the life. Why does the seed stick to be a seed if it eventually becomes a tree? We, human beings have also individuality, but it is only temporary. Or we even can say it looks like we have individuality, but we may not. My sweet son, do you exist in this world without me? Do you exist without foods you eat? Do you exist without earth you are sitting on? Our individuality is dependent on others. We can't separate individuality and others. A seed serves the earth, and the earth serves the seed. A tree falls leaves on the soil, and the soil gives nourishment to the root of the tree. In a same way, each individual soul serves each other and becomes fulfilled."

From one single seed, the tree will produce thousands of apples, each of which has new life (seeds) inside. It's truly a miracle of nature, and this can be the thing the word "eternity" means. I, from time to time, have to remind myself that I'm a part of the whole and want to live as a tree which can benefit people around me, produces thousands of fruits, not staying as a seed for whole my life.

Break

"SLOOOW DOWN. Have rest." My homeopathic doctor told me. Again I got natural medicine which helps my body to fight the virus by myself. Against almost 40 degrees of fever, for the first time in my life, I didn't take any anti-biotic to lower my temperature, and I'm slowly becoming fit again.

Choosing the homeopathic doctor means not only "taking no anti-biotic". It means I change my whole way of life. I need to let myself take time for recovery, listen to my body's voice (and follow it!), take in natural power by eating properly, sleep well and be calm. Without this base of life, natural medicine won't work well.

I struggled a lot to stop myself from working, studying, thinking about the daily things, but finally managed to let myself be in bed. Why is it so hard? I should accept myself and be happy with me even if I don't reach the goal I set. Instead of thinking what I missed, I should be enjoying the time in bed where I can watch the clouds moving in the sky. Each moment is as precious as others no matter what the situation is. The way of evaluation of my day or my life should be not only how much I achieved, but also how much my heart felt the things, I think.

I'll keep on working on myself about it. By the way, the chatting with my doctor is so interesting that, the problem is, I don't feel too bad being sick! Hmm, it's a big problem;-)
