It's been snowing and snowing and snowing here. Though I like snow, and I love being in Munich, I feel my body struggling to adapt to the weather in Munich. After all, I'm a "Proisen" coming far away from Bavaria (People in Bavarian empire call the outsiders by that name)and it's my first time in my life living in the place where temperature goes minus and snow&ice cover the ground for months. I've finally! realized that I need to keep some energy for my body to fight against this cold weather, and need to slow down the activities especially during winter time to stay healthy.
雪が続いています。雪もミュンヘンも大好きですが、どうやら身体はこの気候に悪戦苦闘している様子。日本にいるペースで生活をすると、体調を崩すことがようやく分かり、生活をスローダウンすべく、手仕事を始めることにしました。
My happy solution for slowing down my life is starting hand working!! Why didn't I come up to this idea earlier!?
Definitely there are many Montessori materials Iris and I need to make for our new school, which are very exciting, plus my big goals this winter are
1) Mastering the different ways of stitching so that I can decorate many of my belongings. I have to confess that I'm such a beginner of sewing. I think it's a wonderful idea to start from stitching. If I'm very successful with this, I'll try finger-knitting as well.
アイリスとともに学校オープンのため、たくさんの手仕事が待っていますが、今年の冬の私の目標はまず、１）簡単な刺繍ができるようになること。

2)Making a kicking-ball to my pregnant friends.
"Kicking ball" is a Montessori material for a baby. He/she can first look at (visually very attractive), can practice reaching with arms or legs (it has a bell to motivate the action). It can be hanged from the ceiling with elastic band so that the child can grab it. When the child becomes a bit older, as the name shows, he can kick it or my friend's 1 year old daughter enjoyed so much dragging the ball on the floor. It's one of the long term used materials. When the baby is awake and no adult is around, he can try the ball and enjoy the time by himself.
２）赤ちゃんが生まれる友人のために、「キッキングボール」を作ること。このボールはモンテッソーリの教材の一つです。２，３か月になると、赤ちゃんは腕をのばして何かを触ろうとし始めます。視覚的にも魅力的で、触るとベルが鳴るようになっているこのボール。去年のスウェーデンの０－３歳モンテッソーリコースでは、赤ちゃんに大人気。天井からゴムでつるすと、５，６か月の赤ちゃんが座った状態で、ボールにつかまることもできますし、もう少し大きくなれば、名前の示すとおり、ボールを蹴って遊べます。
生地から分かるように、ボールの原型は日本のモビール。今でもお雛祭りの際に（もっと小さなサイズで）お部屋に飾られているのをみかけます。
As you see from the fabric, this ball's origin is in Japan. Traditionally, we used this (in much smaller size) as a mobile to decorate the house in Japan.
3) To make the kicking ball, collecting the KIMONO fabric. This will be one of my mission in Japan trip which is coming in a week. I've found interesting HP of artists who work with KIMONO fabric. Have a look! KIMONO pattern is so creative and a big inspiration for hand working.

SAKURA (cherry blossom) I made with ORIGAMI. This I keep on my working desk till the spring comes here in Bavaria. According to Iris "Only the strong ones survive here." ... I hope I'm strong enough to pass this harsh winter;-)
切り紙でつくった桜の花です。「早く春がこないかな」と言っていたら「そうね、５月には暖かくなるわよ。ここでは、強い者だけが冬を越して生き残るのよ。がんばって！」と、アイリス。・・・冬が無事に越せますように。
