Here comes my Topponcino report! Topponcino is a kind of cusion which is used to carry a baby. It is such a convenient item as it can be used in many situations. You can use it when you hold your baby for sleeping, take her to the bath, pass her to your family or your friends. As a baby spends a lot of time Topponcino, she becomes familier to it and starts feeling secure on it.
Materials:
-Bedpad (I used old wool blanket which I washed with cold water to prevent shrinking)
-cotton cloth for covering bedpad
-cotton cloth for the final cover
I made the paper pattern looking at the Topponcino I made in the Montessori course in Sweden. You can make it a bit bigger or smaller. I think the most important thing is that you feel comfortable carrying it and it's not too small for a baby.

First, I folded the blanket and cut it out according to the paper pattern. I put some cotton inside the wool pieces so that it becomes soft enough for a baby.

Here I made the cover for wool pieces. When you make this cover, don't forget that you cut 1~1.5cm away from the pattern. Also, you need to leave one side of the cover open to put the wool pieces in.

When the cover is done, put the wool pieces in and sew the part of the cover which is open. Then, fix the inside and cover. I made 5 big stitches as you can see in the picture.

I made the final cover using my pillow case I bought in Hemtex located in Varberg, Sweden! This cloth reminds me a lot of my life up there:-) Again, when you make the final cover, don't foreget to cut a few centimeters away from the paper pattern. Also, I made the lower part of the cover straight, not U shape as the pattern. My idea is leaving the very bottom open and putting the velcros so that we can change the cover when it's necessary.

It's done! I put two velcros down inside the cover. Now I see my cat is bigger than a baby!

Yay! You enabled the comments! Now you will see that I have been following your blog all the time! I love the striped topponcino... Remember we had all those ideas of crazy topponcinos? Of course, for the exam, ONLY white. Velcro sounds good too. I love your humungus cat. I can't decide if it's fatter than our cat Beef Supreme... Aren't fat cats the best?
I really like your little sewing machine too. :) Great post!
Hey, Susanne. Thank you for your comment! Well, I would have failed the course if I had made this Topponcino for the exam. How cool that now we are free from all the little rules we had to follow!:-)Your cat's name, Beef Supreme, sounds more humungus than Korosuke, our cat, but I wonder... Korosuke is huge as if he were the SUMO-wrestler in cats world.
