Last week, on one of the last days before we had snow here, we planted more than 2000!flower bulbs in the school garden. Our biologist, Thomas told me to plant the bulbs 15 cm away from each other, which I found impossible after 10 minutes. The garden is crammed with variety of flowers and with some of the bulbs I had difficulty telling which side facing upward. Sorry, Iris, if some are not coming up...
先週、今度は花の球根を学校の庭に植えました。植えた数はなんと２０００以上！バイオロジストのトーマスから球根は１５ｃｍ以上離して植えるように、とのアドバイスがありましたが、植え終わえてみると、全て２，３ｃｍ間隔。球根の数が多すぎて、とてもそんなに間隔は残せません。そして球根のいくつかはどちらが上を向くのか識別できないものもあり、運任せで土の中へ。春、自分の植えたところだけ、芽が出なかったらどうしよう、、、。ちょっと心配です。
Here is Thomas' list of the flower bulbs. I have no idea what kind of flower are blooming in spring. Since Thomas doesn't speak English and my German level is as high as 1,5 year old, we had fun communicating each other. He had a clear picture of the whole garden and was quite specific which should go where and in what depth. It's amazing how much human can understand each other with body language.
トーマスの球根リストです。トーマスの英語と私のドイツ語はほぼ互角。何の球根を植えているのかは、結局謎のままでしたが、どこに、何を、どのぐらいの深さで、いくつ植えるのか、、、身振り手振りだけでも、人間は相当なレベルまでコミュニケーションができることが分かりました。
On that day, I worked with Michi, Iris and Christian's good friend. Our last mission in the garden was transplanting this Japanese acorn tree. It may take only half an hour if the professinal does, but by the pair of the guitarlist in the rock band and small Japanese girl, it took a few hours.
この日はアイリスもクリスチャンも不在だったので、クリスチャンの友人、ミッヒーが手伝いに来てくれました。庭の最後の仕事として、この木を移植する、というのがこの日の緊急項目。庭師屋さんなら１０分で掘り起こせる大きさでしょうが、ロックバンドのベースプレイヤーと庭仕事の経験の浅い私とのコンビでは、２時間に渡る大仕事。
Yes! We saved the tree. He now found the new place to live, just beside the sand hill with water pump.

Today, Munich got the first snow and it seems the heavy winter is starting. It was a perfect timing that we finished planting last week.
I wish all the plants are not frozen under the ground...I told them that we meet again in spring, so I believe the day will come!

Addition 2; Just now Iris got the official paper saying we planted 2970 bulbs! Wow, nearly 3000!!!
