Autumn has been deepening in Munich, or I can say that the early winter is starting here. Last weekend, the weather was exceptionally very nice, so it seems everybody was out, enjoying the last piece of sunny autumn before the hard winter.
ミュンヘンでは秋が終わり、冬が始まろうとしています。先週末は、久々にお天気に恵まれ、ミュンヘン住民みんなが秋を名残惜しむかのように、公園へ、街へ、森へ、と出かけたようです。
Iris, Jakob, Ronija and I had an excursion to the botanical garden. We frantically collected the leaves on the street and made the huge collection of colors, shapes of them. On the picture, Iris is explaining the leaf Jakob got. Ronija proudly told us that she can classify the leaves depending on the shapes. We almost spent an hour on the street, but it was such a nice opportunity for children to find out the subtle color differences, to know the various shapes and the structure of leaves.
私もミュンヘン植物園へ。普段は１５分で歩ける距離をその日は１時間以上かけて、子供達（ヤコブ君・下の階に住むロニヤちゃん）と一緒に落ち葉を拾いながら歩きました。同じ木の落ち葉でも、１枚１枚色が違います。子どもたちは色の僅かな違いに気づき、同系のグラデーションを作ったり、形別に葉を分類したり、葉脈の役割・落ち葉の仕組みをアイリスに解説してもらったり、とたくさん学びがあったようです。
When we put up the leaf into the sky, it's amazing how beautifully we can see the structure of the leaf! This is one of the leaves Jakob gave to me and my favorite one.
葉を光に照らすと、葉の構造が驚くほどきれいに見えます。この葉はヤコブ君が特別に私にプレゼントしてくれました。
In the botanical garden, there was an exhibition of "chocolate" on that day, showing the cacao trees and some statistics & explanations, but our or my attention was mostly paid to the leaves! Look at all the amazing leaves I found.
In the picture above, it seems somebody dropped the paint on the leaves, but no. They are changing the color from green to pink!
植物園では、「チョコレート」をテーマに展覧会が催されていましたが、今回のテーマは「葉」。広大な植物園内を葉のみに注目し、４人でじっと下を向いて歩きました。上の写真、誰かが葉の上にペンキをこぼしたかのように見えますが、実は葉が自ら緑からピンクへと色を変えています。不思議ですね。
They look like a painting and what amazed me is the color of the back side of the leaf. It's purple! How beautiful combination it is!
絵の具で描いたような葉。面白いのが葉の裏側の色。なんと紫！でした。素敵な色の組み合わせです。
Actually they are not leaves. What seems like leaves are stems of cactus, and their leaves are the spikes on them. The stems are forming the "flower" on the ground!
In nature, everything has a reason. All the shapes, colors of leaves have reasons to be as they are,too. I can't know how and why they become like as they are now, but surely I can say that the nature has a law of beauty.
サボテンです。葉のように見えるのは実は茎で、サボテンの葉は退化し、茎にくっついている針が葉です。「暑く、乾燥した場所で育つサボテンは、葉から蒸発する水分を極力へらすため、葉を退化させ、光合成の機能を茎に任せるようになったのよ」、と植物博士のアイリス。それにしても、サボテンが地面に自ら「花」を咲かせているように見えます。
自然界のすべての葉、花、生物が現在の姿で存在するのは、すべて理由があってのこと。その理由すべてをは知り得ませんが、一つ確かなのは、自然界にあるものは人間も含め例外なく美しい、ということではないでしょうか。
